Fortnite Zero Build Survival Guide
Zero Build rewards players who use cover, height, mobility, and timing well. Since you cannot build emergency walls, every fight starts before the first shot: with where you stand and where you can move next.
Weapons, mobility items, and map cover change by season.
This guide focuses on decision habits, not a current loot tier list.
Check live mobility tools, vehicles, and POIs before planning routes.
Zero Build Rules
- Move from cover to cover instead of crossing open ground.
- Take high ground when it gives cover and escape options.
- Keep one mobility or defensive option if the season provides it.
- Do not chase every knock or cracked shield.
- Rotate early when the next zone crosses open terrain.
Position Checklist
| Question | Good answer | Bad answer |
|---|---|---|
| Where is my cover? | Rock, wall, hill, building, vehicle | Standing in an open field |
| Where do I move next? | Next cover is already chosen | No plan after shooting |
| Who can third-party me? | Nearby angles are checked | Only watching one enemy |
| Can I leave? | Mobility, slope, vehicle, or building exit | Boxed into low ground with no route |
Fight Timing
In Zero Build, the safest fights are short fights from strong positions. If you crack an enemy but must cross open ground to finish them, pause and check the zone, nearby shots, and your escape route. A third party often punishes greedy pushes more than weak aim does.
Endgame Habits
Late circles are about information and cover. Avoid shooting first just because you see a target. Let other players reveal themselves, rotate along cover, and save mobility for the moment when the circle forces everyone to move.
FAQ
Should I always take high ground?
No. High ground is strong only when it also has cover and a way to leave.
What is the biggest beginner mistake?
Crossing open ground after firing. Shoot from cover, then move before enemies focus you.
